To Wing King

Percussion

To Wing King (BT To), graduate of Bachelor of Music Studies in The Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) studied under Sophia Woo, percussionist of Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra. She is the principal percussionist of Hong Kong Symphonic Winds (HKSW).

She performed in different places including Macau, Taiwan, Holland for percussion festivals and the Winds Band competitions. In 2012, she went to Taiwan to join the Taiwan Percussion Festival. In 2013 and 2017, she joined the “World Music Competition” with HKSW, and was awarded the Gold Awards in both years. She was invited by Macau Percussion Association to be the guest performer of the Macau Music Festival 2013. Also, she joined the Disney Winter Band Festival in 2013 and 2014 bestowed Gold Award in open class. She was invited by TVB to be the guest performer of the press conference, “Vino Veritas” in 2014. In 2015 summer, she was invited by the Macau Band Director Association to join the Macau Band Fair 2015 on behalf of HKSW’s percussionist. In 2016, she held her first Lecture Recital, “The Vibraphone Basic Technique” in the Hong Kong Baptist University.

She co-operated with 3 other percussion graduates of HKBU to form an active percussion ensemble, “BomBak Percussion Ensemble (Hong Kong)”. They aimed at using the reusable daily material such as chopsticks, glass bottle, rubbish bin and so on to arrange the rhythmic percussion pieces. Recently, they were invited by Environmental Protection Department as the guest performers to join the green event – “Click, Drink, Then recycle” for promulgation of environmentally-friendly message and the importance of recycling glass bottle. In 2019, BT is the Associate Artist of Toolbox Percussion under the Artistic Internship Scheme supported by the Hong Kong Arts Development Council.
