Cheung Wayn-tou, Wayne
Cello
Graduated from The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA), conferring his Bachelor of Music (Hons), majoring in Gehu & Cello. Wayne has developed his enthusiasm for cello since nine, receiving his early training from Ngai Hon-yip and Lai Siu-ming. During his pursue of study in HKAPA, he studied cello and gehu with Tung Hiu-lo, the Eco-Gehu principal of the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra (HKCO). After graduation he continued his studies with Artem Konstantinov.
Wayne is currently a Freelance Musician of HKCO, as well as the cello principal of Hong Kong Juvenile & Youth Chinese Classical Orchestra (HKJYCCO). In his early years of performing, he worked with various orchestras including Global Symphony Orchestra, HKAPA Chinese Orchestra and Vocational Training Council (VTC) Symphony Orchestra. Meanwhile, he performed around the world, visiting regions including China, Switzerland, Germany, Belgium, Austria, Hungary, U.S.A., Canada, Australia, Korea and Singapore.
Apart from performance, Wayne is a section tutor of The Hong Kong Young Chinese Orchestra. Indeed, he is passionate in music education, which allowing him the positions of cello tutor of various cello classes, as well as conductor of Chinese orchestras in both Secondary and Primary Schools in Hong Kong.
