Alice Hui
Flute
As a soloist, Alice Hui made her debut recital at the age of 16. Being a winner of the concerto competition at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and performed with the Academy Symphony Orchestra in 2016. Alice was also chosen as one of the “Young Music Makers 2017” held by Radio Television Hong Kong 4, she was awarded the “Adjudicators’ Choice” and recorded a CD, radio and a series of television programmes. As an orchestral player, Alice has been a freelance flutist and piccoloist for the Hong Kong Sinfonietta since 2014. And she is currently hired as the principal flute of the Inheritage Philharmonic. Alice has been the principal flute of the Hong Kong Pro Arte Orchestra for five years and was a touring member of the Asian Youth Orchestra 2015.
Alice Hui studied the Bachelor of Music degree at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and graduated with First-Class Honour, majoring in flute under the tutelage of Olivier Nowak. She was awarded a 2-year full scholarship by the Hong Kong Jockey Club Music and Dance Fund to pursue her post-graduate study at Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris under the tutelage of Vicens Prats, the principal flute of l’Orchestre de Paris. Being also awarded full scholarship by the Ecole Normale for two years, she completed her Diplome Superieur d’Enseignement and Diplome Superieur d’Execution, both with all votes and congratulations from the jury and got the first prizes in 2018 and 2019. Later on, she studied directly the second year of the Diplome Superieur de Concertiste with the international soloist, Mihi Kim. Alice is furthermore an active and enthusiastic chamber musician, she is one of the founders of the chamber group, “M•eureka!”, and the two flutes and piano trio, “Les Fliops”, to promote chamber music in Hong Kong.
Alice is recently accepted by The Orchestral Academy and will start working with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra in the coming season of 2021/22.
